I love having quick getaway during the weekends to recharge my energy and soul. Even just going to a nearby city or town to just explore is a great escape.
This past weekend, Encinitas, California was the beach city I chose to explore. Even in the “cold” January weather, it was a beautiful day to eat, walk around, and enjoy the sound of crashing waves.
Encinitas has a great little downtown area that’s very walkable. There’s lots of cute and independently owned restaurants and shops; totally my kind of thing! Eating was first on the list so we headed off to East Village Asian Cafe to try their ginormous stone pot bowl. It was pretty good considering it was an “asian fusion” place. To be honest, I’m usually skeptical about those types places.
Next stop after walking a bit was coffee! We found this great place; very hipster but the coffee was good! Luckily we beat the long line that formed outside the door. I ended up getting a chai tea latte (to warm myself up), and my partner in crime chose the “conscious chocolate” smoothie.
So after a walk around downtown we headed to the one place I knew we had to stop by; the meditation gardens. I can’t describe how unbelievably tranquil and beautiful these gardens are. Set on top of a cliff side (that once housed a temple), this peaceful and well manicured meditation garden ovwr looks the ocean, and is a place I have to come visit anytime I’m in here. I mean come on…..just look at that view!
So to end this great little weekend adventure we walked back to my car through the back streets and neighborhood of Encinitas, and the sights around there weren’t a disappointment either. From cute houses to another gorgeous view of the beach, it makes me want to move to this beautiful beachside town!
See you in the next post!
